About the event

Autumn in Northern Norway is enfolding in its full glory, with rich colours and magical light. The Polar Night is still far enough away, we will make use of the available light to capture stunning images of Norway majestic landscape.

Hendrik Zwart - a full-time landscape photographer from Northern Norway - will lead this workshop and you will learn about how to take stunning images in this breathtaking landscape, control exposure, use filters and how to shoot the Northern Lights.

In this workshop we will explore the light around Sagfjorden, Astafjorden and Vågsforden which are located in Northern Norway around 68,8° Latitude and 17,8° Longitude.

The fjords are surrounded by majestic mountains spread over a variety for islands and peninsulas covered with beaches, rock formations and breathtaking view points. This coast line is unique and part of the Norwegian Coastal Culture.  At the horizon of Vågsfjorden you will see the mountains of the Senja Island.

Nature around this area is incredibly beautiful and still unspoiled as it is largely undiscovered by the photographic community. This will give you the opportunity to bring home incredible images which few photographers have. Over the years I have spent a lot of time in this area and have fallen in love with the beauty of its nature and the variety of landscape locations it has to offer.  These steep majestic mountains, sandy / rocky beaches, rivers, lakes, rock formations and easily accessible view points are inviting you to capture them, no matter what the weather conditions are. The Nordic Light is magical and you will be in awe of the majesty of it.

October unfolds glorious Autumn colours and you will start to see first signs of Winter.. During the time of our workshop the sun will rise around 6:45 am and we will start the day pre-dawn until the golden hour is over (around 2 hours) and then… Coffee time.…The sun sets at 18:30 pm, and from mid afternoon until darkness we will use the light to capture the landscapes at its best.

September/October is a great time to see the Northern Lights, especially around the equinox - and when they appear we will be ready for this spectacular show. This can mean that we have no time for dinner, but as Lady Aurora does not wait with her show we need to take advantage of her spectacular performance.

As the weather cannot be influenced, and it can be tough in Northern Norway, we will make the best out of what is being presented during this photo workshop.

If you would like to enjoy new locations, which are not overrun by the photographic community and you love rural landscapes, then this the workshop for you!
